This is an experiential meditation discussion and Q & A for those interested in attending Enlightenment Intensive, which will run from February 28th to March 3rd (description follows below).
The True Heart/True Mind Meditation Retreat is an experience that we all create together. This is how it works:
Take a group of people, large or small, each intent on directly experiencing the Truth of one of life?s basic questions: Who am I?, What am I?, What is Another?, What is Life?, or What is Love?
Agree to contemplate your chosen question for 3 full days, from early in the morning until late at night. Sit facing a partner for 9 to 10 hours a day (12 or so, 45 minute sittings). You take turns communicating what you became aware of as a result of your contemplation. You each provide the deepest listening space you can and strive to understand what is being communicated without judging or giving feedback. Half the time is spent listening, half contemplating and communicating. You are as honest and respectful as you can be. This is a courageous and ultimately freeing activity.
You do this for 3 solid days while the staff supports you the best way they can. The schedule is clear and tight; there will be good, healthy vegetarian food (3 meals a day plus snacks); there will be time to exercise, rest, sleep, walk. All the time maintaining silence. All the time holding your question, contemplating, wondering, being open to directly experience the truth, the essence of self and other. You will be reminded to keep your contemplation steady, to stay focused and not get hoodwinked by the monkey mind.
This simple process can be very difficult, maybe one of the hardest experiences of your life. And incredibly rewarding. You will travel through many different inner terrains and landscapes; some beautiful, some not. It is remarkable what happens ?- how the pure gold and beauty of being human rises to the surface and shines as soft or radiant light. It is remarkable because there is no guru, no master teacher or master teaching ? we are each teacher and what is revealed through us is the teaching. Our combined intention, attention and willingness to be open to the truth of the moment and our courage to communicate it moment to moment create a living vessel for grace to enter. And it does.
The True Heart/True Mind Meditation Retreat begins Thursday evening at 7:30 and ends Sunday evening. People are encouraged to stay Sunday night and take part in Monday morning?s meditation and integration. We will end by 10 a.m.
